I played college soccer at Calvin University and competed at the USL 2 level. Before games I grabbed whatever carbohydrates I could find — Clif Bars, a banana, sometimes nothing. After games I would have a banana and a chocolate milk. Good for glycogen replacement, but that's about it. Nobody was thinking about timing. Nobody was thinking about micronutrients. We were all just guessing.
When I started researching it, the gap was obvious. There are countless studies on electrolytes, anti-inflammatories, and circulation support. But nothing existed that put it into real food form, timed when necessary. Shakes require prep. Pills get skipped. Whole foods are not always accessible.
